What is a Binoviewer Ala Carte?
Normally,
Denkmeier Binoviewers are sold as part of a Package. Example;Standard
Refractor Power x Switch Package, DII Newtonian Power x Switch Package,
Big Easy Package etc. Our patent pending Optical Corrector Systems (OCS)
are integrated directly into the Binoviewer in those packages. However, the latest Denkmeier
innovation is the Power x Switch Star Diagonal, used for SCTs and
Refractors. We now give you the choice of using a great 2" star
diagonal with the corrector systems and Power x Switches fully
integrated into the diagonals. This means that single eyepieces or
binoviewers can be used with a variety of instant magnifications
that these Power x Switch Star diagonals now provide. So if you are
using an SCT or Refractor and want to become a Denk Binoviewer user,
the latest option is to purchase one of our Power x Switch Star
Diaognals like #S2, #R1 or #R2 and then add a Denk Binoviewer Ala

Tak FSQ 106
This R1 Power x Switch Star Diagonal is available in a special version
for The Takahashi FSQ 106 Refractor. This version includes a special
adapter that connects R1 to the Tak FS106 visual back. The Optical
Adapter (included) contains a specifically designed optical element
that allows R1 to reach focus with the Denk Binoviewer at three
magnifcations with a single pair of eyepieces: 1.4X, 2.5X and 3.5X. The
other Non-Optical Adapter (included) connects R1 to the
Tak visual back and contains no optical element. This allows single 2"
and 1.25" eyepieces to be used with the R1 Diagonal at 1X (normal
power) and also allows a barlow effect by way of the multiplying optic
in the Power x Switch. Note that the opposite Power x Switch Arm does
not function when single eyepieces are being used and the non-optical
adapter connects the R1 Power x Switch Diagonal to the Tak visual back.
Select: "R1 for FSQ" ($50 additional compared to #R1 for other
refractors, and specify Dielectric ($120 additional) or Silver enhanced

pages on this web site. Remember that for best illumination, our D21
Eyepieces are optimized for all Denk Binoviewer Systems and Diagonals
and are made in USA and assemble and tested as matched eyepiece pairs.

Note: You may choose
"Short Tube" diagonal or "Regular Tube"
diagonal. Why a Shorty? If you also plan on using an SCT that is
smaller than 10", it
is recommended that you choose the option of "Shorty Tube
Diagonal" and then add a "Shorty SCT Adapter" so that the #R1 Power x
Switch Diagonal may
be used with the SCT in addition to your Refractor. The Shorty Tube was
designed to allow "swing-through clearance" for smaller SCTs so that
the base of the fork mount is not contacted by the star diagonal
bottom.
All #R1 Diagonals including the FSQ version,
include the typical telescope-side tube that slips into any female 2"
focuser. When the FSQ is used, this tube is removed and instead, the
included FSQ Adapters are used to connect to the TAK106. However, FSQ
owners may have other scopes and the diagonal is designed to convert to
and operate as any 2" diagonal does should the need arise.
#R2 Power x Switch Star Diagonal
The #R2 Power x Switch Star Diagonal
This
is one amazing diagonal. We designed this for refractors that can
handle a little extra weight and it has two 2" format Power x Switch
devices that produce a wonderful range of magnifications with any
single eyepiece or a binoviewer. Our #R2 Power x Switch Star Diagonal
allows a Denkmeier Standard or Premium Denk II Binoviewer as well as
some other binoviewers to work at up to 6 magnifications with only one
pair of eyepieces in most Refractors. Add a Standard or Premium Denk II
Binoviewer purchased ala carte to your #R2 Power x Switch Star diagonal
and typical Refractors will operate at up to 7 magnifications with a
single eyepiece. Includes a silver enhanced 97% reflective 1/10 Wave
mirror Also available with a 99.4 %, 1/10 Wave Dielectric Mirror
(add $120).
1.25" Part O/ Cell #150 For Coronado Filters
Parts O & The #150 1.25" Cell For Coronado Blocking Filters
This pair allows any Denk Binoviewer to reach focus at Low Power
in Solarmax equipped scopes that use the Coronado 1.25" Blocking
Filters (B5,B10 or B15). For Denk Binoviewers with no Power x Switch.
The Part we call Part O is actually a 1.25" Nosepiece for Denk
Binoviewers and contains an optical doublet that is Fully-Multi-Coated
(FMC). The other 1.25" #150 Cell threads into the ffilter threads on
the Telescope-Side of the BF filter diagonal. When used together, low
1.2X Magnification is the result. If the Hollow nosepiece for the Denk
Binoviewer without the doublet is used in combination with the BF
diagonal and #150 cell, 2.5X magnification results and an outward focus
position is required.
1.25" Step Down Adpater
Using 1.25" Filters: $8 per 1.25"
Step-Down Adapters. These may be ordered individually. Any 1.25" Step Down Adapter will fit into both
Left and Right 2" Carriers. Order one for each 1.25" Filter. It is a
good idea to have a 2" Carrier for each Step-Down Adapter so that the
1.25" Filter may remain loaded into the Step-Down Adapter and the
Step-Down Adapter may remain loaded into the 2" Carrier, protected within
the plastic case included with all 2" Carriers. In this way, either
1.25" Filters pre-loaded in such a way, or 2" Filters loaded in their
designated 2" Carriers may be instantly inserted into the Main Filter
Switch Housing. This takes seconds! Illustration
shows the larger 2"
Carrier with included hex tool engaged to secure the 1.25" Step-Down
Carrier that has been loaded with a 1.25" Moon Filter. A separate
drop-down window is provided for ordering plastic cases. Remember that
all 2" Carrier Pairs ($20 per pair) include two plastic cases and that
your 1.25" Step-Down Adapters do not include a plastic case. usually,
the 1.25" Step-Down Adapters are stored within a 2" Filter Carrier and
the plastic case that was included with that 2" Filter Carrier.
2" Filter Switch Carriers
Adding these optional 2" Filter Carrier Pairs allows you to load all of your 2" Filters so that they are ready to insert into the Filter Switch Housing. These 2" Format Carriers accept typical 2" (48mm) filters. $20 includes one Pair of 2" Carriers and includes a plastic case for each carrier. Shipping is free when purchased with a Filter switch System. Otherwise, $5.50 priority shiopping in USA will be added to shopping cart total when these carriers are ordered after the Filter Switch System has been delivered previously. So, order at time of the Filter switch purchase to save on shipping! Note that stacked filters such as variable polarizing filters are probably not suitable for use and may be to high in profile to fit.
2" Filter Switch Star Diagonal
The new Filter Switch Star Diagonal. Collimated in our Ocean City Facility, this 2" Star Diagonal is available with a 97% Silver Enhanced, or 99% Dielectric Mirror. The 2" Filter Switch includes two 2" Filter Carriers. Order optional 1.25" Step-Down Filter Carriers or additional 2" Filter Carrier Pairs so that all of your filters are ready to load into the Filter Switch in seconds!

This Filter Switch is an "add-on" for those who currently own a Denk II Newtonian or Universal Power x Switch System. Denk II Premium Binoviewer With SCD Holders/Case
We tested the "real-world" performance of The Denk II in many telescope
designs before going ahead with production of this Binoviewer. The
prisms are polished to 1/8 wave surface accuracy and include special
baffling to control off axis reflections. Super transmissive coatings

diagonal. Why a Shorty? If you also plan on using an SCT that is
smaller than 10", it
is recommended that you choose the option of "Shorty Tube
Diagonal" and then add a "Shorty SCT Adapter" so that the #R1 Power x
Switch Diagonal may
be used with the SCT in addition to your Refractor. The Shorty Tube was
designed to allow "swing-through clearance" for smaller SCTs so that
the base of the fork mount is not contacted by the star diagonal
bottom.
All #R1 Diagonals including the FSQ version,
include the typical telescope-side tube that slips into any female 2"
focuser. When the FSQ is used, this tube is removed and instead, the
included FSQ Adapters are used to connect to the TAK106. However, FSQ
owners may have other scopes and the diagonal is designed to convert to
and operate as any 2" diagonal does should the need arise.

Denkmeier innovation allows an owner of an F/10 SCT to have a focal
reducer and Barlow incorporated into a top quality 2" Star Diagonal.
This means that 3 instant magnifcations with a single eyepiece is at
your fingertips. A Denkmeier D21 65 degree Widefield eyepiece suddenly becomes a 45mm 65 degree widefield eyepiece. Move the reducer arm to "OUT" and it reverts back to a 21mm eyepiece. Move the opposite Power x Switch Arm to the "IN"
position and it becomes a 10.5mm eyepiece. The 65 degree apparant field is maintained in all Power Switch settings. In a few years, these

Desert" by
Jim Gutman assembled 9 observers for a long night of side by
side comparisons involving 5 binoviewers. We hadn't produced the Denk
